Gift Cards

overview this document explains how gift cards interact with instant refunds and instant exchanges , and why certain limitations apply by default, orders that were partially or fully paid using a gift card are not eligible for an instant resolution this restriction is based on payment, platform, and compliance requirements and cannot be overridden why gift card orders are not eligible gift cards and store credit are considered non cash instruments , and are restricted in how they can be reused or converted instant refunds pay funds directly to a customer's bank account, and converting non cash value into cash is not permitted under payment and compliance regulations instant exchanges rely on refundid handling the financial flow required to place a new order (repurchase) at the time of lodgement, and gift card value cannot be programmatically reused to fund an instant repurchase as a result gift card value cannot be converted into an instant cash payout or used to fund an instant exchange this applies even when only part of the original order was paid using a gift card these limitations are enforced by system and compliance constraints and cannot be disabled how this affects customers if an order was paid fully with a gift card partially with a gift card and partially with another payment method the customer will not be eligible for an instant refund or an instant exchange instead, the customer will be required to choose one of the following options, depending on the retailer's available resolutions a standard refund back to the original payment methods a refund to a new gift card (store credit) a standard exchange for an alternative item please note the cash portion of a split payment order is also not eligible for an instant resolution if a gift card was used on the order
