overview a non operational resolution, also known as a no op resolution, has no interaction with shopify whatsoever when this resolution is approved, refundid creates and manages the rma within refundid does not update the shopify order does not mark items as returned does not issue refunds or adjustments does not leave notes on the order the return exists purely within refundid for tracking and analytical purposes how it works with a no op resolution the rma is created in refundid the return lifecycle is tracked within the refundid portal shopify remains completely untouched this is ideal where returns are handled entirely in an external erp financial adjustments occur outside of shopify the retailer requires full custom logic refundid is used primarily for customer facing experience and tracking when to use no op resolutions no op resolutions are particularly useful when an external system (such as an erp or retail management system) controls all financial and operational actions shopify should not be modified the retailer needs refundid only for rma creation and customer experience this provides maximum flexibility for retailers operating more complex or bespoke return environments
